Walt Disney: Dreams and Fairy Tales

Disney World is a place that many kids have the opportunity to go, one week there makes you feel and believe that you live in a fantasy place. Those feeling needs to be pass along to those who have not had that opportunity. Why Disney World is so magic? Is the magic in the details and the fact that you are transported into a fantasy place? This lesson will focus in a dream of a man, his fairy tales and believes.

Objectives:

  • Teach children about dreams, fantasy and the importance in believe about your self
  • Discuss about Walt Disney views, life, artwork and dreams.
  • Learn about sets, details and make believe lands
  • Practice their new knowledge by create their own scene for last lesson character.

Essential Questions:

1. It is necessary to be transported to a world of make believe?
2. Are the details the keys on a set? 
3. Do we need to know our details before we reproduce them?



Materials: 

Drawing paper, pencils, erasers, markers and color pencils



Discussion:
This discussion will start with a review of Walt Disney Story and focus in why characters need to be set in a location where they fit. We are going to get over kinds of sets and elements to be need related to the character. How can we create the perfect set for our character?  And, why is important to have a good group brainstorming.

Extension:
Make a list and describe all kinds of setting and situation where their last class characters can live.
Create a mini set with clay.

Students will try to Identify important elements in sets.

Activity:
1. Make a collaborative brainstorm about places where their character can live.
2. They will work in groups to sketch their sets base in the brainstorm.
3. Once created, their collaborative artwork will be display with others sets to create a classroom big dreamland.

Assessment:
Students will demonstrate their understanding by completing their art project.
